Hollywood Cemetery

How`s it been this past long year,
Have many come to call?
Or do they just go tripping by,
Too busy to recall?
Too busy to remember now
What happened long ago.
Of how a man named Sherman
Left Richmond skies aglow

But I am here my special friend
As every Christmas Eve
I bear no gift or frankincense,
Just know what I believe.
No body weak or eyes that fail
Could make me stay away
For you and I, we share a bond
On this, our special day.

It`s twenty years since I first saw
Your name engraved in stone,
But on that cold December night
I knew I`d come on home.
Now every year I make this trip
Three hundred miles around
Just to be with you old friend
On winter`s frozen ground

For Hollywood is where I spend
Each Christmas as I fade
To be with you neath leafless sky
And sit beside your grave
Oh would that I could do much more
To thank you for your pain
But all I have is love my friend
And thanks for what you gave
