Lonely Men

The tie that calls me back again
To stand within this place
The bond of words, unspoken now,
The love, set in God`s Grace
The dreams of those, now far away
Yet here, within my mind,
I pray for them, Dear Lord each day,
And peace, that they may find.

The lonely men of Dixieland,
The sons and brothers all,
Now vanished to eternity,
Lay cross a bloodstained wall.
Abandoned wife, now left behind,
A mother`s tearful rage,
Her man she knew, he had to go,
When history turned the page.
Cry in the night, a child in pain,
No father there to call.
Who now to guide, throughout young life?
Just mother, that is all.

The tears so now course down my face
As I recall with pride,
What happened in that yesteryear,
How brave the ones who died.
That they did pass, so I might be
Is etched upon my heart,
These lonely men of Dixieland
From home so torn apart.
