White petals fall Such rosy coloured hue As silently They spiral down Amid a sky pale blue Through Tillmans Creek They floated by As souls forever lost While soldiers asked "Whats going on? Oh why this mortal cost?" The peach is sweet Her blossom white As virgin as can be Yet Shiloh blood Did stain her face That day in history Yes men did die Beneath her coat That carpet now pale red No beauty here For you to see Just lonely men soon dead This field so green Now turned to mud Beneath a blood red snow Where men once young And men once old No more will ever go. |
